October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a reminder of the importance of regular screenings and early detection.
Did you know that 1 in 7 Australian women will be diagnosed with breast cancer by the age of 85? The good news is, with early detection, the chances of successful treatment are much higher.
Women aged 50-74 should have a mammogram every 2 years.
Younger women and those with a family history should consult their GP for advice.
Where can you get a free screening? BreastScreen Australia offers free mammograms to eligible women across the country. No doctor’s referral is needed. Visit breastscreen.org.au to find your nearest screening location.
You can also book an appointment with M3 Health for your breast cancer screening: https://www.m3health.com.au/book-appointment/
Know the signs: Lumps, changes in breast shape, skin dimpling, or nipple discharge should never be ignored. Always consult your doctor if you notice any changes.
Let’s raise awareness, support those affected, and encourage our loved ones to prioritise their health. Together, we can make a difference.
